What Cookies Are
Cookies and similar technologies are small files or identifiers used by websites to operate features, remember preferences, measure performance, understand usage and, where enabled, support marketing. Similar technologies may include pixels, tags, local storage and SDKs.

Consent Management
On first visit, users should receive a clear cookie banner offering equally understandable choices such as Accept All, Reject Non-Essential and Manage Preferences. Necessary cookies may operate without consent where legally permitted; analytics, advertising and other non-essential technologies should remain disabled until valid consent where required. Consent should be as easy to withdraw as to give.
The website should retain a persistent “Cookie Settings” or “Privacy Choices” link. The consent platform should log consent status, policy/version and timestamp and should periodically renew consent where legally appropriate.
Third-Party Cookies
FEDA may use third-party tools for analytics, embedded video/maps, social media, advertising, payment or other functionality. The web team must maintain an up-to-date cookie inventory naming each provider, cookie/identifier, purpose, category, duration and relevant privacy link. Do not publish generic cookie names that have not been technically verified on the live site.
Browser and Global Privacy Controls
Users may also manage cookies through browser settings. Where applicable law requires recognition of browser-based opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control for covered California activities, FEDA should configure its consent/advertising systems accordingly.
Cookie Retention
Cookie duration should be limited to what is necessary for the stated purpose. Session cookies expire when the browsing session ends; persistent cookies remain for a defined period. The web team should avoid indefinite cookie lifetimes and document all durations in the live cookie table.
